Fluency Media Earns Tourism Award with I Love NY

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Fluency Media and client I Love New York earned a 2013 Gold Adrian Award in HSMAI’s annual recognition of exceptional leaders in hospitality, travel and tourism. It’s the third Adrian Award for Fluency, which earned a pair of Adrian Awards with Pure Michigan from 2007 to 2009.

The 2013 honor was awarded in the Digital Marketing Division for #ISpyNY, a unique social media campaign surrounding a user-generated content community.

#ISpyNY is an Instagram-based user-generated content program designed to engage residents of and visitors to New York State and inspire potential travelers. Starting in April 2013, Instagram users were asked to submit photos reflecting the beauty and opportunity of New York State via an Instagram hashtag. In the first six months, the program earned over 22,000 organic tags on Instagram, making #ISpyNY one of the most popular hashtags among Instagram users in New York State.

HSMAI received more than 1,200 submissions globally for the 2013 Adrian Awards. From the entries, HSMAI presented 46 Gold Adrian Awards in Advertising, 87 in Digital Marketing and 130 in Public Relations.

The Adrian Awards began in 1957 and consider entries from every segment of the travel and hospitality marketing industry, including hotels, airlines, cruise lines, car rental companies, destinations and credit card companies, among others. Winners are selected from a field of more than 1,200 entries by senior industry and media experts.
